Match report Reigate Pilgrims, behind the Red Lion, in full sun; two bottles of port at lunch to wash down a banquet of salmon, gammon, new potatoes and more veg than you'd find in a market. What's not to love? Oh, the cricket was quite fun too. RNVR in all sorts of trouble at 45-4 (most of which were scored by the in-form CC), before Ben Dale and Fouldsy righted the ship with a near-record (8 short of the 112 needed) fifth wicket partnership, with fifties apiece. 201-6 dec off 44; we'd bowl 41 back, thank you. Frano bowled with ever-increasing assuredness and took out three in his opening spell; Scottie succumbed to a wide Warnes half-volley (not the first) and walked without anyone appealing (that is a first), as we thought he'd hit the deck not the ball. True cricket spirit at its best. Coppard briefly came and went, withdrawn for being over-economical (3-3-0-1), before Charlie Sokol, in his debut game, claimed two scalps after struggling to locate the cut strip in his first few balls. That's promise! 85 all out off 31.4, meaning a slightly earlier reunion over the beers in the clubhouse. What a superb day.
