Match report An early 11am start for a Thirty-Five35 game due to some kickball tournament happening later. RNVR win toss and elect to field, despite just the 8 fielders.
Fine opening spell from Vinay and Tex. Headley 3 down, but no.5 looking solid, launching the ball out the ground with regularity.
After bowlers were rotated, Vinay returns in the 21st over to take the key scalp. Clean bowled (one of 6 for the innings, so clearly bowling straight pays off!)
Tex returns to clean up the tail. Outstanding 4-12 off 6. Vinay also excellent with 4-23. Single wicket for the skipper and Brian with some spinners.
Mike and Tim weather a fine opening spell from Headley older quick, and 14yr old prodigy.
Tim gets bored and leaves a straight one, brings Ed Stapleton to the crease.
Excellent 100+ partnership, both rotating the strike, and hitting the ball both along the ground and out the ground. Fine batting by both.
Mike accelerates after drinks and brings up his 100 in style. A truly fabulous and chanceless knock.
Skipper gets greedy and not only retires Mike, but also only gives Ed 1 ball and 1 run with 32 needed to win to leave him just short of a well-deserved 50.
Skipper pushes one through the off side to secure a fine 9 wicket win. Great day for it!
