Match report Mark Pepler Managed two games in Winchester and the Sunday at Oxted.

After a fine full English a number of the troops headed east to Oxted.
The picturesque Limpsfield ground (Oxted's 2nd XI ground as Master Park has a new pavilion built) surrounded by reminders of fallen service men had a certain Mr Hillman singing a number of hymns to put the RNVR in fine mood for a bat.

However the wicket was both a little sticky and rather tricky for almost all, apart from Reza, who top scored with a many chance 60.

161 Always felt rather light, however we had a strong bowling lineup and belief that with a number of wives and girlfriends and a Ben Dale in lycra, not certain which category that falls into, we could force a victory. What followed was an inspired 11 over bowling spell from Viany Kumar. Cheered on by his better half at the end of his run up this was one of the finest spells I have seen from an RNVR bowler. Again he had taken 3 wickets for not many runs.

What we had not accounted for was Oxted 1st XI opener and captain in need of some practice. The duel between Vinay and Mr Mr Murtagh of Oxted was a spectacle to behold. It came down to a ferocious return catch sent back to Vin straight from the middle of the bat. It would have been a worthy end, unfortunately it was a bruise.

This was his only chance as he went on to score a ton and win the game with 3 overs to spare. Another great contest between Oxted and RNVR fought in the best spirits.

It was a privilege to help put this tour together and all that came played and contributed to a much enjoyed few days. Already looking forward to next year with note to self; tell umpire not to field at the same time. Thank you all who made it such a marvellous weekend.
