Match report How could I ever do justice to 418 Whatsapp messages worth of 'Live Stream'?

We arrived at Oxted, not a particularly happy hunting ground for the R in recent years, to a 'road' and the information that Dorking had plundered 340odd there on Saturday. We lost the toss and were in the field for a declaration game.

We took an early wicket through Dav, caught by Colin at cover, and then a cluster in the middle overs through Alex and Frano, who both bowled excellently. Oxted's skipper batted through to a well made 100, despite trying to get himself out on 99 a couple of times, and then retired to give some of the juniors a go. For the first time in memory, we didn't drop a catch, though we didn't have many opportunities either, and Oxted declared on 252 for 5 off 46.

In reply, Colin and Hylts took 40 from the first 3.5 overs before the former was dismissed. Hylts and Jono then put on a partnership of 127, with the Hylts also reaching a well made 100. Drinks were taken with the final 20 overs to go, at which point we needed 111 (5.75 an over, not 7 Jono) with 9 wickets in hand, but in true RNVR fashion we didn't make it easy, the run rate slowed and wickets started to tumble. First Jono for 31, then Hylts for 108, swiftly followed by CCCC and Vinay at which point we suddenly needed 52 off 42 balls. Quick runs came from Peps, Junior and Alex B but all were out caught going for one shot too many and it was left to Dav and Frano needing 5 off the last 4, a scrambled (leg) bye meant Frano still hasn't scored a run off the bat since 2019 and brought Dav on strike to seal the win with the coup de grace over cover.

Not a bad day, 46 overs per side yielded more than 500 runs, 2 centurions and a last over victory and all brought to the masses by our own Danish version of Bjorge Lillielien.
