RNVR Cricket Club Lost by 28 runs

Match report A new fixture for the RNVR and considering the setting, the on site bar playing sky sports and a contest played in such great spirit, we hope that Piers can work his magic in making this a recurring event (the result notwithstanding we hope will change!)

The oppo won the toss and "Nigel" carried his bat. His teammates woefully neglecting to let him know he was on 98 on the final ball of the innings whereupon he gently trotted through for a single to finish on 99 not out! Some notable bowling performances from Dav who bowled tightly, unlucky just to pick up the one wicket, Alex Beard who bowled an excellent opening spell only to limp off after his 5 and Peps - economic as ever meant we restricted them to 200 / 4 off their 40.

The RNVR innings was a story of people getting in and getting out, leaving James Massey the challenge of playing a "Stokes - esque" innings as he set about the target batting with the tail. When their keeper dropped Massey (an absolute sitter) the stage seemed ripe only for Massey sadly to run out of partners and the RNVR to fall circa 20 runs short!
