RNVR Cricket Club Lost by 17 runs

Match report Tuesday of tour, a 40 Over game versus Barcombe in which there was a record Number of Ollies in one side!
RNVR lost the toss and set about bowling to their openers who despite an early wicket from Fran started to accumulate. When Tex finally had their opener caught for 55, the RNVR started to get themselves back in the contest, by slowing the rate and taking wicket - Ed Hewens getting a couple (one which bowled the batsman round his legs). However these wickets brought Will Marler to the crease, who after a watchful start began to hit the ball to all parts which led to Barcombe reaching 246 for their 40 overs - competitive!

The chase - Step up Ed Crichton who similarly smashed the ball to all areas putting the RNVR up with the rate. Once he departed it was left to Laurie to pick up the mantle playing some lovely strokes including a straight 6 over the clubhouse on his way to 82. Once Laurie was dismissed, wickets started to tumble and the rate increased leaving Fordy and Foulds, despite their best efforts (including some big hits from Foulds) to hit an unlikey 26 off the last and we fell agonisingly 17 runs short, leading the RNVR to ask....what might have been!
