Match report Day 2 of Tour '22 began with the customary swim in the sea, albeit this year, Hillman decided to give the lifeguards a rest, and only Vacher and Saunders braved the ocean.

After a lovely lunch in the Plough, joined by a number of the Rottingdean team, (we were even given a bottle of Captain Morgan rum as a thank you!), we headed up to the ground for the toss.

Armed with a beer in hand, skipper Bridges called correctly and decided to bowl given the riches his bowling attack had offer; and even decided to take the gloves so he could watch it all unfold from a front row seat.

Cue a fine early spell from Hylts and Frano, as some early incisions were made. However, the wiley no.3 Conor Bettsworth continued his fine form vs RNVR (consecutive 100s in consecutive years), with a chanceless 106 before becoming a victim of Pepler.

A solid all-round bowling display with all bowlers contributing, 2 wickets for debutant Hamish MacMillan, and Rupert's epic googly trapped the Rottingdean no8 with some fantastic spin bowling. Pepler led the way with a 3-fer, and BD wrapped things up with 2 in 2 balls to finish.

So to the RNVR innings, a ferocious display of hitting from Saunders and Vacher got us off to a good start, and despite a few lost wickets in the middle, and some dodgy running between the wickets (sorry BD), it was left for the skip and Rpert to knock off the last few runs and a comfortable 4 wicket win. The evening finished with a fine seafood dinner in the Regency in Brighton enjoyed by all.
