Match report Chasing 125 for victory Forest Green got off to a good start, with 26 off the first 6 overs which ended "Mootrey's" spell. (There is confusion as it's such a peculiar name and both these surnames appear in 1969 in an oppo's scorebook. So I suspect that it is the same person and spelt phonetically).

No9 bat is surely misspelt too!

Peter Connolly would end his first spell 8-1-24-1 with Barff having replaced Mootrey and gone for 21 in 4. At least 62 off 15 for the loss of one wicket.

Ufford, possibly captain as well as keeper, Bolton and Wells all finding the boundary easily. Even the dismissal of Wells (76-2) didn't slow matters much with P Charman scoring freely.

In honesty, at 102-2 who would have bet on a close finish? Three quick wickets from Tony James and Orme put pressure on at 106-5, and when two fell at 110, there must have been a panic on, 110-7
If only Hartwood could steady the ship?
A second spell from the 45 year old Connolly and Tony James was enough to squeeze the game to a crescendo with the last pair probably adding no more than 5. Always hard to read the dying overs with a run out involved, and certain facts being missed from the scorebook in the excitement!!

What a game for Walker - who with this stumping enters the upper echelons of wicket keeper world. If you care to check his catches are very low indeed by comparison, and he truly earns the title of a stalwart keeper with at least a 17 year career.
