Geoffrey Longfield later, as Cuckfield President, recalls that 1960 was the first summer that he was club captain. And then later still recalls that it was 1961. So he couldn't recall why he wasn't playing for CCC, and hopes that it wasn't through not being selected, but raised a smile in remembering that at least he'd stuck with the winning side whilst being cross that his great mate (and later editor) Jon Petitpierre got him out.

It makes the events of 1961 all the more remarkable.........
