Match report There wasn't much on the face of it to commend this fixture, picked up via the fixture exchange, a free service provided by the Club Cricket Conference that Nick Morgan was a wonderful supporter of as fixture secretary. We gained Banstead and Reigate Pilgrims this way.

The ground was relatively long, but very narrow, and was, and still is at the back of the Jolly Farmer Pub on Byers lane in Smallfield.
The Pavilion was ancient and deficit in some way, and the score box was delapidated, but for all this I personally found the fixture very entertaining.

A number of the hosts had not been to ben and had ben fishing all night. The bar "gave away" snacks before we played - mini cheddars, crisps, pineapple and cheddar on sticks - that sort of thing, lovely - and Unique in 1999. And the oppo really wanted to talk to us after the game - and not go home. In 1999 most oppos did, but I wasn't sure that wasn't because who we were (a long time fixture), whereas here they'd never met us before. The ground is about a mile from Outwood, and I think some of the surnames look familiar, although at the time I don't imagine that this was discussed).
