Scorecard

Outwood CC v RNVR Cricket Club on Sun 03 Jun 2007 at 2.30pm
Match was Drawn

Match report A Keith Barham (OCC scorecard....) T Matthews bowls unchanged throughout

[Still searching skip - its June 2007]

That said in batting from the depths of despair at 154 for 9 at 4.39pm when Alex Mumford was out very soon after William Buckland (they themselves having rescued the side from 108 for 7) Skipper Ford and Tony Oudejans launched an attack of such ferocity that they smashed the Connolly/Wyles 10th wicket partnership that had stood for 16 years to that point, indeed batting so well and unbeaten that their 10th wicket partnership still stands for the club. (Ford, A Massey and Vaughan all hold two club partnership records).

Ford 50* in 26 balls, 32 minutes, 5x4's , 2x6's

On an Even happier note.......... If one ignores, for a second, the order in which they are taken, and concentrates on the order on which they are added onto the system this happy 5-for for Ben Dale represents his 100th to 104th wickets for the club! Congratulations.

He joins a pointless coterie, bizarrely enough identified by one of it's members, try to keep up, and guess who, who have done the "RNVR double" a rather lame version of the one that proper cricketers do, being a career 1,000 runs and 100 wickets (Thomas, Barker, J Massey, Liddell, Buckland, PV) By the time all records are on the system it's possible that Rupert Vaughan will be whiskers away too. Paul Thomas of course amassed over 300 wickets and 2,000 runs.

Doubtless skipper Ford will unearth a match report too now from his unforloughed monkeys......we shall see, or perhaps Mostyn Saxeby's byeline is ultimately upon this?

Dr Ford responds:
Crikey - I had completely forgotten about this. I vaguely remember walking off with Tony and the oppo having a slightly dazed look in their eyes. It seems that with captaincy comes memory loss, probably because there is too much else to worry about. Perhaps I was also a bit annoyed still searching for a maiden victory. If we had won maybe my monkeys would have already relayed this.
I remember now (with a nudge from the scoresheet) that Tony took a while to warm up, rather dovetailing my effort. This the oppo definitely didn't get as in the end it all went slightly berserk ('the ball has gone straight into the confectionary stand and out again...'). The declaration was as unexpected as fish pie at Ditchling.

In addition, CC must also get a mention for his 8 wides, bizarrely, with a maiden sandwiched between them. And destroying the scoresheet!

ex-skip Ford
