Match report Of course the first thing that stands out about this match was the debut of Tom Hillman for the RNVR. I wrote the batting line up in the book after the innings had finished and appended his name with "(Barnes)" in case we never saw him again and wondered who he had been. Note that he appears to have been more highly rated than the great Dr Alan Simpson.
Also note the symmetry of the two innings, on opposite sides of the two co-captains of the A&A.

Oh that's about it.

To date (2020) Peter Jordan's innings is the highest recorded for the RNVR, and he carried his bat.
It was to be his last game for the club, and with that 1997 ended.
What a marvellous way to mark Skipper Crichton's years as leader.
