Marvellous scorers notes from a young Tom Mole. RNVR scoring appears to have been done by Searle - so perhaps a new person to blame for the missing RNVR book!?

Note the detail on where the catches were taken. In later years Skipper Collins was at pains to point out that Gully was a wasted position. Perhaps we can see from this why. Without one Alan Simpson would still be batting to this day and the world would assuredly be a better place.

The demise of KR 2nd ball was treated with much jubilation in the Cuckfield book. Clearly as Liddell in years to come this was the wicket to take cheaply. The word "MAGIC" is scrawled large across the space of three innings and carefully edged.....all very artistic.
Sayers' catch is noted as "Steady Eddie pulls off a big play!?! The crowd goes wild" - with five overs to go of the 20 the tail was finally revealed.
Swain's slip catch is noted as "Sharp Fielding Jack", which won't be hard to imagine for a chap of his age at the time.
