Despite no Hardman to select and an early setback, Speedman and Allen set a record second wicket of 80 at RCC (beating Belchamber/Ronaldson 58 in 1984).
The gloss finally falls away when Speedo is Run Out in scampering confusion with Buckland at 132 for 5, and after one final ember of light as Buckland/Kimber add 31 (Kimber 3) to reach 163-6 the innings ended shy of a big score, having kept RCC in the field for 56 overs.

A quick wicket for Richards to have a door open at 7-1, and Mr Evergreen from Bristol (He's 58 you know) chipping in another 3 as he pushed toward the end of his last season (to date) and an incredible 288 wickets (There's always the 2020s and the West of England tours to reach 300).

But it wasn't Hardman Hill, it was The Bowl.
