At Barcombe, matching a performance only recorded once before, also at Barcombe in 1952 Matty Barker took a five-for, bowling offbreaks, for the first time, and scored an unbeaten hundred to brilliantly guide a victory, scored the next ball by his batting partner Rob Hayward.

Matty reached his 102* with a six.
On one previous occasion, at Leigh, a fifty and a five-for were recorded by George Taylor, now club Treasurer.
Earlier, Matty and Charlie Crichton fell agonisingly short of the 4th wicket partnership at Barcombe by 4 runs.
Matty's father, Philip, a vice president, also broke a personal record, as a blood replacement for poor Jono Vernon-Powell who had his thumb broken in the field. Philip's last game for the club was in 2005, and so he broke the unofficial "gap" record of fellow VP Graham Wyles, who had only waited 14 years between games. Philip has now played across five decades like illustrious club members including Hensher, Connolly (Peter and James - debut 1 Sept 1979!), Crichton (Bruce and Charles), Wyles and Ford.
